Review:

I really enjoyed this movie, mainly because of Lily Tomlins performance and the well written script, and the various characters that get introduced during there amazing journey. The storyline was pretty basic but there are many elements that keep the movie interesting throughout, and at 75 minutes long, it doesn't drag at all. When Lily Tomlins character, Elle, gets a knock on her door from her teenage granddaughter, Sage (Julia Garner), she wasn't expecting Sage to tell her that she needed money for an abortion but she is determined to help her, even though she hasn't got any money because she recently paid off all her credit card debts. They then set out on a journey to try and find the money for the abortion, by going to the baby father's house, and a hair dressers shop, who owes Elle money. They also go to Elle's ex-husbands house, Karl (Sam Elliott), who is still bitter after there break-up and he is totally against paying for an abortion. Elle then tries to sell some first addition books, which are basically worthless in this day and age, so with time against them, because they have to make a hospital appointment for the termination, they end up turning to Sage's mum, Judy (Marcia Gay Harden), who is a stern business woman, with an attitude. When they put there differences aside, they concentrate on Sage, who is having a tough time dealing with the termination. There are other elements to the storyline, like Elle's troubled relationship with Olivia (Judy Greer) and her foul mouthed, unlikeable ways, which rubs people up the wrong way but you really have to see the film to understand. Anyway, it's definitely worth a watch and I'm sure that all audiences will find something to laugh about, during this witty road movie. Enjoyable!

Round-Up:

At 76 years old, Lily Tomlin has made over 50 movies, which include Nashville in 1975, the famous Nine to Five in 1980, All of Me in 84 and various other projects which has proved that she is a unique actor who deserves more credit. She was brilliant in I Heart Huckabees alongside Dustin Hoffman and her performance in the Walker was top form but she has taken on less projects over the years. Her performance in this movie has definitely brought her back into the spotlight, which is great for a small independent film, which cost least than a million to make, and least than a month to shoot. It was written and director by Paul Weitz, 50, who directed the first American Pie in 1999, Down to Earth, About A Boy, In Good Company, American Dreamz, Cirque du Freak, Little Fockers, Being Flynn and Admission, which also starred Lily Tomlin, so he has a lot of experience behind the camera. He really pulled together a great cast for this movie and he got the best out of Lily Tomlin, so it's hard to find a bad word to say about the film.

Budget: $600,000.

Worldwide Gross: $7.1million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their drama/comedies starring Lily Tomlin, Julia Garner, Judy Greer, Carlos Miranda, John Cho, Nat Wolff, Laverne Cox and, Sam Elliott and Marcia Gay Harden. 6/10.
