Joan Crawford is amazing in this film, but I didn't enjoy Greta Garbo's performance much. Garbo has been criticized for being too over-the-top, and though she may have been doing it to stay in her character of a ballet diva, I just found her character obnoxious.
Most of the male roles were well done and very enjoyable, especially John Barrymore. A nice example of a period, artsy film.
