Review of Grand Hotel (2008) by Mark W — 11 May 2011
Greta Garbo...Joan Crawford...John Barrymore...Lionel Barrymore...Wallace Beery.... As they would say, a galaxy of stars and all at their best. This film is well worth watching for that alone. Production values are high for the era as well, and it is beautifully lit and shot.
Only a fairly pedestrian story that has been done many times since stops this from getting a piece of the coveted fifth star.
