Review of Gran Torino (2008) by Theresa J — 13 Oct 2012
The film is clearly a Clint Eastwood film, by that I mean there is detail in every shot. This film as not what I expected I did find some of the acting shallow in parts and some of the camera did seem amateur but to look beyond that the film had class.
It's a utterly moving story where you grow to love and enjoy the character Eastwood creates. the Story is basically based around a pleasant racist living in a bronx, you get the feeling the place he use to live is no more, it's now a thug run territory.
The film strives at getting empathy but leaves you unfulfilled in places, alot of people I know have slated this film expecting to see Clint Eastwood play Clive Owen's role in Shoot'Em up but this film is so much more than a generic action film, the film is the closest fans of Clint will get to Dirty Harry as the character is hateful yet loveable.
A excellent film well worth Tow hours of your time!
