Review of Grace of Monaco (2014) by Madison C — 18 May 2014
Having just watched it in a preview here in Singapore, I have been eagerly waiting for this film to open, and tonight I have the chance. I firmly believe this film is a figment of the writer and director's imagination.
Nevertheless, it is still an intriguing perspective and much credit should be given to Nicole Kidman for her sympathetic portrayal of Grace Kelly. There is structure to the story and it is easy to understand.
There's political intrigue, double crossing, attempts in toppling the sitting monarch and amidst all that turmoil, an American-born Oscar-winning actress who is now the reigning Princes, tries her best to salvage her marriage and save her adoptive country.
This film deserves a look, if not for the story, then at least for the sterling performances and the gorgeous costumes and jewellery. Imperfect perfection.
