Review of Gosford Park (2001) by Anne F — 25 Feb 2008
Brilliant! Lovely portrayal of life above and below stairs in a 1930s country house. The characters are mostly appallingly horrible to each other, right to the point of ending the life of one of their number.
I especially liked the very poisonous parts played by Maggie smith and Richard E. Grant. There was so much going on in the film, and such a full cast that I watched it twice in a row. I would have given 4½ points but for the ending - last ten minutes was too tame!
