Review of Gosford Park (2001) by Dana A — 21 Mar 2010
Giving the situtations and the plot I kind of thought this would be much better then what it was. It was a bit stuffy and somewhat dull. I found myself drifting in and out. I was able to follow the story without any problems but it never really grabbed me.
Quite honestly I think it was a bit overrated. The characters and the situations they provided such an opportunity for drama, comedy and just really captivating work but it never crossed that threshold.
Kudos for being able to weave together a 35 cast ensemble where your able to follow every storyline and know how everyone connects. It was well written, directed and acted but it wasn't strong enough to garner an Oscar.
To me it was your stereotypically stuffy british film.
