I quite enjoyed Goodnight Mommy. That being said, there were some problems I had with characterization that rubbed me the wrong way and stopped me from getting completely invested in the story.

There are a lot of really cool scenes and evocative practical effects that make you SUPER cringe and the story actually is pretty interesting. Shot well, good foreshadowing, and definitely rewarding repeat viewings - but the way the Mom is written is pretty confusing to me, especially as the story progresses and various details get revealed.

Man, if you want to grip the armrests and enjoy a really entertaining foreign film - look no further. Definitely a sweet indie.
