Review of Goodnight Mommy (2015) by Arum Padma O — 19 Mar 2017
Twins Lukas and Elias live with their mother in a sleek, modernist house in the Austrian countryside. When their mother comes home from a hospital stay with her face covered with bandages, the boys become convinced that this grouchy bully is not their mother.
This odd puzzle of a film turns brutally nasty in the last act heading towards a twist that entirely recasts your interpretation of the first two acts. It's an extremely impressive debut.
