Review of Good Luck Chuck (2007) by Jarrett M — 26 Feb 2012
An extrodinarily unoriginal and middling film that relies on vulgarities and generous amounts of nudity to sell the film rather than humour or chemistry between the leads. The story is kind of interesting for this kind of film, but it isn't executed all that well, easily falling into genre traps and cliches.
There is a fair amount of humour, but some of it falls flat and most of the rest is buried under gross out gags and annoying characters. Dane Cook and Jessica Alba were really the only decent performers in the film, and they kinda sleepwalk through their performances.
Not a lot to recommend here, unless you love the actors or like lukewarm and overly crude romantic comedies. Everything here has been done better in other films.
