I first learned about weaves when I worked as a resident assistant during my senior year at LSU: a female resident put her weave in the microwave to dry it and it caught fire. Half my fellow resident assistants were Black women, so I learned about hair relaxing and maintenance too.
But this film goes way further in documenting the Black hair industry. It's not all that funny - all the best jokes are revealed in the preview - but it's an interesting and fairly thorough documentary.
Fascinating stuff.
