Review of Good Dick (2008) by Will V — 15 Nov 2008
"Good Dick" is a film about love and trust and family and friendship and other important things I won't name here so as not to spoil your enjoyment of it. It is billed as a dark, romantic comedy.
It is very funny and it is very dark. The story is cleverly written and the acting is very good. Marianna Palka not only stars in the film but also wrote the script and directed. She and her costar Jason Ritter were at the screening I attended along with the two women responsible for the film's self distribution challenges.
During the discussion with them after the film I learned that the film's budget was just $200,000 and the actors were all paid just $100 for their participation. The film is in wide release in the UK and very limited release here in the states.
Go see it. "Good Dick" is a good film.
