Review of Good Dick (2008) by Lee B — 16 Jan 2010
"Good Dick" is a really strange film. A girl suffering from social anexiety disorder is persued by a homeless, lying porn store clerk just fresh off of rehab. He quickly moves in (literally) as she cold heartedly stonewalls every pass he tries to make while she treats him like dirt to push him away.
They awkwardly watch very little porn and deal with an overbearing amount of dork and emo drama to which all these facts are slowly unveiled. "Good Dick" is too smart for itself, and that's its greatest fault.
It spends so much time trying to cleverly unveil the main protagonists problems that it leaves everybody scratching their head as to why they are in this position to begin with- because any normal person would never have been put in those positions to begin with.
While gripping at times "Good Dick" fails to maintain any sort of thrust. 2 stars flat.
