Review of Good (2008) by Paul D — 27 Mar 2010
Un-sentimental film about the Nazis. Think about it. That never happens cause films about the Nazis are usually really films about suffering Jews.
" I'm a Jew, and you're a Nazi. End of story. ".
Because it isn't at all. And that's what this film intends to explore. It unsettled me quite a bit, because I can imagine in almost 90% of cases, Nazi henchmen began their lives in much the same way as the protagonist of this film: as unassuming professors/doctors/bus conductors/army guys etc. and ended up party to some of the most vile things that have happened in history. The point being to make you think: Could that have been me? The answer has to be a resounding yes, no matter how much you spend the 90 minutes thinking, 'but I would have', 'but I would have'. You might have. But then again you might just as easily ended up being a Nazi.
Food for thought.
