Review of Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (2008) by Nikki B — 28 Nov 2008
A great documentary with a substantially telling soundtrack to the clips and interviews. Hunter was a visionary not only on the literary front, but politically. His strategies are implored today, his predictions surpass his death and to see the footage of the times against his writing lends a layer to the writing in an eerie yet substantial way.
Gibney does good. My only complaint is too much Jann Werner--that man sold his soul long ago and he always has and continues shamelessly to capitalize on brilliance he will never possess.
