Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Mark L — 11 Aug 2014
Before I saw this movie, I really didn't have much idea of the scope of its influence and reputation. Since that time I have read a lot about it, and (despite the fact that it's almost 4 hours long) seen it multiple times.
And I can say without any exaggeration that this is the single best film I have ever seen. Action (before the era of ridiculous special effects and unnecessary gore), war, politics, romance, sumptuous costumes and gorgeous dialogue, it's the movie that has everything.
It ebbs and flows, it pulls you back in, and then leaves you unfulfilled at the end. Fabulous.
