Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Ava R — 27 Oct 2011
Perfection.
People need to look deeper than the apparant racism. Sure its racist and condescendig to blacks BUT (and its not a defense) the movie is about the past. about times that have "gone, with the wind" nothing in the movie is romantic, even the romance. It's critical of the way women were pigeon-holed, subjugated and its equally critical about the roles blacks played before and after the american civil war.
The more you watch, the more you see. A great film that is more than just an epic romance.
P.s if Star Wars can be re-released, why not Gone with the wind. A true classic!
