Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Johann M — 22 Feb 2018
This film stands the test of time. I actually saw it on the big screen in New York with an audience that was 3/4 full and even with it's long length you could feel the audience energy watching it. The scope of the film, with its sets, extras, costumes, locations and of course, cemented by the fine, unforgettable perfs of its leads, make this film one that will always be among us.
If there's any "complaint" I would make is the sag in the 3rd Act where it feels more like a soapy novel vs. a gripping film about war and what happens to those in it. Otherwise, make sure to see this in your lifetime.
