The difference between right and wrong is not so black and white, there's a lot of gray areas. this puts morals to the test. one hand, you have a terrible mother who abuses drugs, neglects her child.
other you have law enforcement and family members taking upon themselves to "teach the mother a lesson". what they wanted to do was probably justified, but their approach was completely off.
in the end, the truth comes out and no one wins.
