Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Derek D — 25 Aug 2012
It is a well made move that has a nice plot that turns into far more than just a missing child case and I really appreciate the added depth. The end result is far from predictable or obvious as the story comes to you only as the director and filmmakers intended.
It is filled with sticky situations, low-life personalities and plenty of rough situations. It feels very real and given the nature of the film it is emotionally heavy. The end is highly emotional and makes the audience really check their values and ask themselves what they would do in that situation.
Casey Affleck was excellent in the lead role, Michelle Monaghan also gives a strong performance, and as always, Morgan Freeman is awesome. It is a well-made movie with a compelling story and it has a poignant message but it is hard to watch because of the sad situations and subject matter.
