Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Steve K — 14 Nov 2009
An intense dramatic expose of the Camorra, the loosely-knit mafia of Italy's Campania region. Matches the raw realism of "City of God" with an added layer of hopelessness: the Camorra's reach extends from the depths of of the slums to the highest levels of government.
As an aside, it's especially interesting to see the clean-cut architecture of post-war Italy-- a highlight of many of Fellini's films in the 50's and 60's-- dilapidated and crumbling.
