Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Robyn N — 06 Feb 2013
Nod off for a second and you may miss a crucial plot line - that's how intricate and layered this film is. Interwoven stories let you see the community as a whole but can also become tiresome, especially when you are enjoying a specific character's scene and you have to wait to see them again.
The rhythm is sometimes off and it is by no means a perfect film but it is quite an incredible one, and is definitely an eye opener into a world so far removed from my own. A great blend of humour, action and suspense, this film had me hooked from the first scene, had me laughing along the way - especially at the boys driving the trucks - and even jumping in my seat at times.
This is great cinema.
