Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Lawrence B — 09 Aug 2015
Superlative vintage adventure starring Sean Connery as the ultimate James Bond up against a crazed billionaire plotting to blow up Fort Knox. Unlike most entries in the series, everything in this one fits and gels perfectly and the result is arguably the best Bond movie of them all.
Connery is sublime as 007 and is matched with striking and unforgettable support from Gert Frobe, Harold Sakata and Honor Blackman. Also equipping Connery is the famous gadget-laden Aston Martin, a crisp, exciting and witty script and impeccable direction from Guy Hamilton.
No one has done it better.
