Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Matthew B — 31 Aug 2010
This is, without a doubt, the best of all Bond films. Connery's depiction of the secret agent remains paramount; Honor Blackman's seductive Pussy Galore still has one of the best introductions in film history; and Gert Fröbe's bulbous title megalomaniac is ingeniously over-the-top.
Harold Sakata's Oddjob, too, is a masterpiece in seemingly impregnable villainy. The Shirley Bassey theme song remains the most extravagant and decadent of any Bond film.
