Review of Goldfinger (1964) by Ronald N — 06 Mar 2013
This film has a benefit that will mark with a lot of influence all the franchise. Still the tongue-in-cheek style, thrilling plot and a chic cast and act, Connery comes into focus as the James Bond that we know.
The movie influence is a dark and unforgettable villain, Gert Fröbe do an magnificent work; the 1st bad-ass Bond girl, a very good effort by Honor Blackman; the magnificent use of gadgets and an action scenes that make the establish a difference from other action films.
Also an a series of influential scenes: the girl bathed in gold paint, when Goldfinger threatens 007 with a laser beam when he was gagged, the chase with Bond's car and his lots of gadgets, the scene of the plane plummeting, the phrase "A martini.
Shaken, not stirred", among others ."Goldfinger" is as perfect as "A martini. Shaken, not stirred".
