Review of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000) by Bart & — 27 Nov 2009
Tezuka's first Godzilla movie probably would have worked better as a comic or Saturday morning cartoon. The whole thing looks just as ridiculous as the "Godzilla vs Black Hole" scenario sounds.
The special effects are also far below average for this era in the series but the actors do a solid job and the final fight, while awkward, is still fun. The best parts of the film are Oshima's score and the opening newsreel that imports the modern Godzilla into shots from the 1954 film.
