Review of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971) by Wes S — 13 Jan 2012
These movies just seem to get cheaper & cheaper. Which is great! They seem to have lost all sense of shame in the production of Godzilla movies by this stage with a big flat inanimate Hedora with unblinking platic red eyes gliding on nylon wire over the man in the rubber Godzilla suit.
The usual anti nuclear moral has been replaced with the more '60's environmental message of polluted waterways along with hippy chicks, oil lamps & psychedlic paraphanalia . Godzilla becomes the monster of the moment, saving the day and being bid a sad farewell by a little boy & his mother, grateful to the giant atomic mutation that is our Godzilla.
