Review of Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956) by Senor C — 25 Sep 2011

I think there's close to 30 Godzilla movies & the first one is probably the best. Not the most fun but the best. Actually this a heavily re-edited version of the original for the American audience w/ Raymond Burr.

I should actually see the version called Gojira to compare. Burr really adds nothing to this & it's 100% Godzilla's show. He could have stood to be in it more but when he is he's the ultimate destructive force.

Sure it looks cheap in many aspects but for it's budget they really do a lot here & w/ a more somber attitude then others in the series you have more an emotional response. You get the mass destruction & the devastation Tokyo must recover from the monster's attacks.

.& now you have a dead sea to deal w/. Tokyo's fishing industry is going to be in the shitter.
