Review of Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla (2002) by Dan S — 18 Dec 2012
While the movie does have some annoying quirks including the use of the meaningless moniker "Kiryu" for the character every Godzilla fan treasures as Mechagodzilla and a most improbable female heroine, it delivers in spades on the city stomping action and offers a nice twist in the story line involving use of DNA from the bones of the original 1954 Godzilla to build Mechagodzilla.
With only a few exceptions, the effects are good. The more experienced actors deliver convincing performances. The final battle between the Big G and his chrome plated brethren is worth the wait.
