Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olson and Ken Watanabe.
Godzilla is a remake of the classic of the same name. It's about a monster that was found and has come alive and Godzilla must stop the monster. A basic premise for a movie but it is effective.
This movie is an experience for anyone to see. We'll start with Godzilla himself. Godzilla is a monster who is the product of nuclear testing in the 50s and has basically been hibernating since then to restore the balance of nature.
Gareth Edwards is able to bring one of the biggest monsters to the big screen in a way that is reminiscent of Jaws in the essence that you don't get to see him in all his glory until later. But when you see him it's cheer worthy and awesome.
The characters in the story are not the most developed. Much to Many people's dismay Bryan Cranston is not the main character but Taylor-Johnson is. TJ's performance is very stiff and not dynamic. Bryan Cranston is great in every scene he's in as well as Ken Watanabe.
The action scenes between Godzilla and the monster are incredible and very well done. One gripe I have about them is with one scene, where you see him in all his glory, there is an implied battle but it cuts away and you don't really get to see it.
