Review of Godzilla (2014) by Jesus G — 30 May 2015
Godzilla is a really epic film. The scope of the movie is huge, and the eerie score to go along with it is spot on. The cast is pretty good, especially Bryan Cranston, who is very underused. This big budget action movie with lots of explosions tries to humanize its stars.
The character stories besides Cranston's aren't overly compelling, our real main characters aren't very interesting at all. The movie's title is Godzilla, the iconic monster is mostly teased for the first hour and a half, which becomes a bit annoying after the third time.
As a monster movie, it's great. But as a whole, it's an entertaining summer blockbuster. There are issues with the movie, but the amazing action in the last half hour alone is worth buying a ticket for.
Godzilla is a pretty fun action movie, even if its characters and story are not as compelling as they should be. Godzilla gets 3/5 stars (B-).
