A return to the dark side of Godzilla, this film ignores all Godzilla films prior to the original film, making it the first to completely reboot the continuity. A larger Godzilla appears and makes his way towards Japan, but this time his presence sets off a worldwide controversy as the US and the Soviet Union try to get involved.
The special effects are overall quite good, but not perfect and a malevolent Godzilla is a nice change of pace. The Japanese version is, as usual, superior but the US version has its moments.
