Review of Godzilla 1985 (1985) by Gus S — 30 Jun 2008
Godzilla returns with a whole new look after a much needed break from the goofy, late 70s series. Overall though, this is basically a retread of the 1954 original with Godzilla appearing in Tokyo, smashing a lot of stuff, then meeting his demise.
The atmosphere of the movie, however, is much eerier than previous films, partly due to the music score, and that boosts this up a notch. Like the 1955 American release, this one also has cheaply filmed inserts with Raymond Burr but this time they serve absolutely no purpose other than obvious product placement for Dr.
Pepper.
