Review of Godzilla 1985 (1985) by Wes S — 29 Feb 2012
Disregarding the previous fourteen films, Godzilla 1985 (a title which is only topped in how hilariously dated it is by Dracula A.D. 1972) picks up thirty years after the original attack. Godzilla is always fun and it's nice to see him back to his darker attacking humanity roots, but after the inclusion of so many awesome monsters in the franchise, the thrill of seeing Godzilla get shot at and crush buildings without him fighting a monster can only last for so long.
Plus Raymond Burr's character is really annoying with his whole 'I've been there, I know what to expect, I know what will happen' attitude. It's like, dude, all you were was awkwardly edited in to the original Japanese version so Americans could feel more comfortable watching a white star, you weren't there, stop it with your dramatic glares.
