Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Robert M — 05 Mar 2016
Don't the high-toned critics have any sense of humor? I was mightily entertained by the self-consciously ironic humor and special effects of this "Saturday afternoon matinee" film. The representation of the Gods is, on occasion, awesome, and (what movie did some critics see?) the story-line fairly clear from beginning to end.
The best motif was "the education of a God" treatment of Horus, who learns to care for the human race through his partnership with a mortal. Not Academy Award material; never intended to be.
Just good fun when you want to forget what a bad movie the presidential campaign is.
