Gods of Egypt is another fantasy action film combining ancient history with spectacular battle scenes and mythological creatures. There are so many of these types of films about now, that it becomes difficult for the new kid on the block to rise to the top.

This was enjoyable but lacking longevity, and will soon fade into insignificance when remembering the likes of Gladiator or Clash of the Titans. You can't fault it's special effects or simple storyline which centres around revenge and restoring parity to a land now ruled by a power hungry Gerard Butler.

However, it fails to add anything original to our cinematic palette, and takes us through a journey that is all very much predictable and familiar.
