Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Fernando A — 22 May 2016
What a unruly mess 'Gods of Egypt' is. Visually it's on par with 'Jupiter Ascending', unfortunately it also there story wise. It's feels that director Alex Proyas has been given access to all the off cuts from Michael Bay movies.
The CGI and editing at times is 'Gods Awful' (pun intended). Gerard Butler is doing a bad impression of himself in '300' as Set, while the rest of the cast are going around hamming it up.
Except Rufus Sewell, who is looking suitable embarrassed that his in this crap. Honestly the plot is pointless. It's just set pieces from a 80s video game shoved in with generic clap trap. I think I've seen better Power Rangers episodes.
If your thinking of going to see this when it finally released in the UK, then either be suitable drunk or go watch anything else and wait for it to be shown on TV at some late hour. Otherwise go see some of Alex Proyas earlier movies which are infinitely better than this pile of crap.
