Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Marcus H — 10 Aug 2016
- 1 Star Whitewashed (at least their European and Aussie).
- 1 Star too much CG even though its phenomenal.
I actually really liked this film maybe it's just the concept; Ancient Gods battling amongst the mere mortals. Casting isn't terrible; both Elodie Yung & Courtney Eaton could play Helen of Troy or Cleopatra. It's just north Africa is full of dark peoples; Arab and Black people. All these caucasians look great with their tans but really there are too few authentically represented people in a film taking place on a continent were the minority are white. Honestly they should have been blue and neon orange; they made this a make believe word full of ancient aliens. I wouldn't have cared if the gods were green. The masses are right and we've had enough of this misrepresentation. If this realm is revisited and considering its relative lack of success and critical panning probably not. I'd like to see the world expanded and the story take on a truly epic adventure; tackling something not so predictable.
