Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Samuel L — 17 Aug 2016
White people of Egypt.
This movie is just a mess. From the visuals to the acting to the story and to the ridiculousness of it all. But it is in some ways so bad that it is good.
Gods of Egypt in quite unintentionally funny. It takes itself very seriously but it is still possible to have a fun time with it. Jaime Lannister does the best he could, so did Brendan Thwaites, who does have the potential to be a star, but not in movies like this. The action concepts and looks of the all cgi versions on the gods a snakes were cool looking also.
The rest is just a mess. Butler's performance is showed in and laughably bad. What they did with Rush must have been torture on set and the story is just horrendous. The cgi looks unfinished throughout. It doesn't even seem Lionsagate would want to get this out.
Rating: 6.2 (C-).
