Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Jacob B — 18 Aug 2016
Why are people crapping on this film so much? Sure, the whitewashing was a bad choice and if the film had actual Egyptian people then this film would've been a lot better. Personally, I thought that this film had some great effects and acion sequences.
IMO, I believed that Gerard Butler made a decent villain and the final battle between Set and Horus was amazing. It's just that in the film Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays Horus looked bored and not committed to the film is what also weighs the film down.
Not just the whole whitewashing thing which director Alex Proyas apologised for. I would only recommend this film for its effects and CGI as they are literally more entertaining than the actual film. So, if you're looking for a good film with an Egyptian setting, Gods of Egypt is not one of them.
