Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Nick S — 02 Mar 2016
In short; the concept is similar to Jupiter Ascending, only worse. Why? The storyline is in both weak, faint and shaken; however, the execution is far worse in this movie here. While Jupiter A. has at least special effects, this "Egypt" here is a reduced standard budget movie from 40 years ago. Who pocketed the 100+million dollars production expense? The answer to this is the only mythological, mythical and mysterious issue surrounding this movie.
The uplifting moments are tavern brawls; we have seen much better and suspense worthy fights from mortals in various martial arts movies in decades past. The rest? Some walking around and talking on a Brazilian soap opera level, even the dilemmas are taken from there.
This is all; is it entertaining?
No, it's rather depressive, unnerving, irritating and shallow. One would just like to jump from the chair and bash the producer, writer and whoever abused the Gods of Egypt.
May the divine punishment hit the movie studio; actually, the people are going to grant the retribution.
