Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Red B — 29 May 2016
What was that all about?! Okay, every once in a while Butler does (for some unknown reason) a really bad film after having a successful one but Geoffrey Rush? Did they drug him or did he just get too old and can no longer comprehend reality? This film.
..No, better call it this THING, since calling it a film would be a flattery, is a chaotic mixture between acting that I would not even expect to see in a B movie, over the top CGI and God awful plot. The mere concept of this Transformers-like ancient Egyptian gods is flawed.
I know it's mythology but this here is just travesty. I continue wondering how Hollywood manages to screw up probably every single film, which is based on some mythology - European, Asian, Latin and Central American etc.
I guess for Alex Proyas "Dark City" and "The Crow" were just some fluke in his career and THIS here is what actually he can usually do. It is a true mystery how such a film got even past the form of a script let alone actually got filmed.
