Review of God's Not Dead (2014) by Katrina A — 05 Sep 2014
This movie is amazing, yes it's an over used word, but it really is. I think that anyone who watches it is going to be touched in some way. Already having my own relationship with God, it just boosted my spirits and lifted my soul. I have to admit that there are some tense moments when you feel like you just want to shake the person on the screen who is ridiculing God and those who believe, and tell them to wake up and smell the coffee! But, the ending is so incredibly powerful, and moving. I will own up to it....I cried like a baby at the end!
Now that I have given you my personal feelings on the movie. I will give you a review of the movie, from the perspective that a good critic should provide.
"God's Not Dead" is set among the sites of a typical college campus. It provides a good look at the sometimes overwhelming beginning to living in a world away from home for many as well as that move into the land of radical disagreement. Kevin Sorbo plays a professor who has lost his faith in God and challenges anyone to dare prove him wrong. Josh Wheaton is played by Shane Harper who is a devote Christian who refuses to go against what he believes about God and his relationship with Him. Wheaton has a lot to lose by going against his professor but, believes that God will help him find a way. Though there are times that the movie has a less than major motion picture quality to itself. These times can be overlooked when taking the movie in it's entirety. The performances are strong, and the climax is full of impact. Whether the movie goer wishes to take the knowledge to heart or not is left up to him to decide. It could easily be placed along side such popular movies as Facing the Giants and Fireproof.
