Summing up as a whole, even with its solid handling of the racial theme, God's Country is essentially a very basic story. After all, how many people, as viewers, will side with the characters playing bullies? But what makes the experience worth the trouble? Thandiwe Newton who, with a fierce but also vulnerable performance, completely sustains a story that had everything to easily fall into obscurity.
