Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Mat P — 27 Aug 2007
Not half as good as gettysburg(suffers from the absense of martin sheen and tom brenenger(as gens. lee and longstreet)as a civil war fan I enjoyed this film for it's topics but found it lacking a little.
also stephan lang is a hell of a character actor yet having already played gen. pickett in the first film I feel it would have made for better movie to cast a fresh face in the starring role of gen jackson.
also more time should have spent dealing with the union generals(especially gen. hooker and burnside who are absolutely absent during the battles of fredricksburg and chancellorville respectively. if your a civil war history fan you will like this its just not as good or well done as gettysburg.
hope someone finishes the trilogy (the last full measure) on strong note.
