Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Stephen C — 05 Jan 2010
A good, strong film that went unappreciated by the mainstream movie-going public, which is really no surprise. I have heard some say Lang's portrayal of Jackson was over the top, but Jackson was quite an eccentric man. Right on the money, in my opinion. This movie also openly deals with issues from the war that are left out of the current PC, whitewashed view of the war. Like men like Lee and Jackson were fighting to build an independent nation, not to promote slavery. And that free blacks like Jim Lewis did willingly serve the Confederate cause.
If you care about history unblemished by reactionary, PC propaganda, give it a look.
