Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Private U — 20 Oct 2007
Definately on my top ten favorites. As a history major, I love this film obviously, and everytime I watch it I learn something new. Stephen Lang does a great job as Stonewall Jackson, a man I admire and a person who I am personally studying; Duvall does a great job as Lee (they are related in reality); and Jeff Daniels kicks butt as Chamberlain.
See my Gettysburg review for more on him. As for the movie itself, the battle sequences are great (however you can tell at somepoints the weapons are fake) but it brings you in for an upclose and personal view of the Civil War.
Highly recommended for history and/or Civil War buffs.
