Review of God Help the Girl (2014) by Robert B — 08 Sep 2014
Emily Browning shines as Eve, a girl with serious emotional problems, who writes songs to help herself get better. The movie was written and directed by Stuart Murdoch, the lead singer of Scottish indie pop band, Belle and Sebastian.
The original songs and storyline are charming but at a running time of nearly 2 hours, the movie is too long and meanders it's way to the end. Hannah Murray's singing isn't really up to scratch either.
This is really a shame because tighter editing and more accomplished vocals from Cassie's character would have definitely resulted in a more satisfactory movie.
