It's unbelievable that these resilient men not only have lived through the war in Sudan, but have in some cases found their surviving families. Instead of becoming completely mired in self-pity (which would be completely understandable, given their circumstances), they are doing everything they can to improve their own lives so that they can then work at bringing some stability to their homeland.
It's both interesting and heartbreaking to view western culture through fresh eyes as the men learn to navigate life in America.
