Review of God Grew Tired of Us (2006) by Jake C — 09 Dec 2009
It is my belief that we should remember that there are people worse off then ourselves. To be a global citizen we must be awake and aware. God Grew Tired of Us is a disturbing wake up call about the conflict in the Sudan.
The documentary follows a select few of the Lost Boys, a group of thousands of boys who walked thousands of miles to escape civil war in the Sudan and now living in refugee camps, who are now being located to the United States.
The men who are brought here are faced with challenges like learning new technology and the American culture and still hold on to their heritage. The past is heart breaking but their story is heartwarming.
They have experienced so much pain and unbelievable suffering that you think it must only get better. They still face adversities in this new country but after surviving Africa they can over come anything.
Their stories will touch your heart and are such lovable boys. The film brings to light the terrible situations in Africa and encourages us to in the least be conscious of the genocide but to also take action.
God has not forgotten these men and neither should we.
